Lamezia Terme – An impromptu committee of citizens, originally from Conflenti and transplanted to Lamezia Terme, has organized the “Conflentesità Rally” for Saturday 4 May. The event begins at 6.30 pm with the celebration of a Holy Mass at the “Del Redentore” Church. For this occasion, this place of worship in Lamezia Terme (Carrà Cosentino) will become a small “Visora”, as many devotees of the “Madonna della Quercia” will come together, led by the Rector of the original Church, Don Adamo Castagnaro.

The Committee has, therefore, decided to reproduce, for the gathering, they say: “a perfect ‘Conflentesità’, exalting the identity values which for the population of the charming town at the foot of the Reventino, are mainly related to its high spirituality. “The Madonna della Quercia” is celebrated in all latitudes of the world, from Canada to Australia, passing through Piedmont, as in Borgo Ticino (NO), where there is even a reproduction of the Church, also entitled to the “Madonna della Quercia” Oak”. Faced with this “worldwide” religious feeling, there could not fail to be a moment of communion for the Conflentesi who, over the years, have colonized, in large numbers, the city of the plain, where everyone has had the ability to fit in well, also in key roles in the city. There are more than 2000 people from Conflente residing in Lamezia Terme, and they are all animated by a sense of belonging and pride in their origins. This is why they have already intended to join in large numbers at the “Conflentesità Rally”, this is what Giovanni Paola and Giampaolo Carnovale announced for the Committee.

After the religious ceremony, the convivial phase will begin at a well-known Lamezia restaurant. For this phase, the Committee intends to pay homage to the poet of Conflenti, Vittorio Butera, from whose vast artistic production, a famous composition has been extrapolated which typifies, in a colorful way, our “Cujjintara Race” which, says “o cujjintara race of left-handed people who shout San Paulu to gargia china sulu whenever we don’t attack the curzuni”. To sanction the historical union between the two communities, the two First Citizens, Paolo Mascaro, of Lamezia Terme and Emilio D’Assisi, of Conflenti, gave their testimony.
