The season of Lombardy’s historic trains starts again

It starts again from Sunday 5 May the season of historic trains from the Fs Foundation in Lombardy. The initiative, now in its eighth edition, is promoted byDepartment of Transport of the Lombardy Region in collaboration with F Honfrom Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and FS Italian tourist trains. «A very successful initiative – they explain from the Region – which, thanks to the collaboration between the Lombardy Region and the Fs Foundation, allows thousands of people every year to discover itineraries and landscapes of our region through an authentic journey through time, on board trains who have made the history of the Italian railway”.

The calendar this year includes vcirculation bodies. Among the main innovations introduced compared to the past, two vintage train circulations on the Milan – Brescia – Desenzano route with departures scheduled for 9 June and 1 September, and from Milan to Genoa on 14 July and 3 November with the ‘Etr 252 «Harlequin». The most popular itineraries are proposed again, including that of SebinoL’Expres s from Milan to lneedle of Iseo (Paratico) with departures scheduled for Sunday 19 May, 16 June, 15 September and 20 October. Laveno Express from Milan to discover Lake Maggiore, with departures scheduled for Sunday 5 May, 2 June, 8 September. Lario Express from Milan and Monza to Como and Lecco, with departures scheduled for Sunday 12 May and 13 October. Lomellina Express from Milan to Mortara, with departures scheduled for Sunday 26 May and 29 September respectively on the occasion of the «Benvenuti in Lomellina» event and the Goose Salami Festival. Besanino Express from Milan to Besana, Molteno and Lecco, with departures scheduled for Sunday 22 September and 27 October. Finally, two historic trains are planned on the itinerary Milan-Chiavenna (Sunday 23 June) e between Milan and Cremona (Sunday 17 November, for the Nougat Festival).

On historic trains it will always be possible to transport your bicycle for free using specially equipped luggage compartments. Tickets to travel on historic trains can be purchased on all Trenitalia sales channels, ticket offices, apps and the official website. Children up to 14 years travel for free.
