VITERBO – There are 16 wind turbines that the proposing company would like to install in the areas of Viterbo and Montefiascone, 200 meters high between tower and blade at its maximum height. They will produce a total of 96 MegaWatts.

Therefore, the requests for the installation of energy production systems from renewable sources in the Tuscia area do not stop: a new request for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), in fact, has arrived on the tables of the Ministry of the Environment. The 16 towers will be placed in agricultural areas, far from urban centres: 15 in Viterbo and 1 in Montefiascone, with high voltage and medium voltage connections, and an electrical transformation substation, for connection to the national electricity grid.

The people of Viterbo are waiting for a plan that identifies the areas suitable and unsuitable for the installation of RES. After the approval of the memorandum of understanding between the Lazio Region and Terna, it is hoped that the sector will soon be regulated by the Public Administration bodies, without prejudice to the fact that all the plants authorized so far have passed various levels of evaluation.

The objectives of the European Green Deal, readjusted to the regional context by ENEA, envisage that the energy production mix will increase from 3,600 GWh in 2019 to 11,000 in 2030, up to 31,550 GWh produced in 2050, absorbing 100% of energy needs.
