it just means that they noticed you”

Marcello Cesena is an Italian actor who became famous on the small screen thanks to his character Jean Claude. Guest on Le Iene in the episode of Tuesday 30 April, the comedian recited an intense motivational monologue on the difficulties and challenges that he had to face in his career to achieve success. A story made up of falls, doors in the face and above all revenge. Here’s what he said.

Marcello Cesena’s monologue

«I was five years old when my mother told me that they were looking for me to play Mastroianni as a child in the theatre, it was a joke but I believed it, I went crazy and shouted “I’ll be Mastroianni”, the worried teachers called my mother». Thus begins the monologue of Marcello Cesena to Hyenas: «At the age of 20 I tried to enter an acting school and at the end of the audition I heard people shouting at me from the darkness of the audience “where are you going with that voice”. It’s as if I had been shot, I go home and fall into depression.”

«After a few days they took me – he continues – I swear I never understood what happened. At the end of the second semester they call me and tell me that my voice doesn’t work in the theater, that I don’t function. Second shot. A week later he inexplicably wrote me for one of his shows.”

Cesena’s story is based precisely on rejections and successes, on his voice initially an obstacle which then becomes his distinctive trait and a strength. Hence the message of encouragement: “When they tell you that something is wrong with you, don’t be scared: it just means that they have noticed you.”
