«Total sale due to ceased activity from 29 April to 28 July»: this is what we read on the windows of the Cicogna shop, in via Sant’Orsola, in the heart of Bergamo. After 34 years, and even more if we go back to the previous management, the shop dedicated to children and babies will close shortly.

As he remembers The Echo of Bergamothe business was opened sixty years ago by the Mussi family, but then, in 1990, it passed into the hands of Bruna Balini, who then passed the work on to his daughter Sara Gelfi. At Cicogna you can find branded clothes and high-level products, but the owner underlined: «Over time, purchases have reduced. People look less and less at quality, while low prices become a priority, particularly competitive with e-commerce sites, so much so that we are seeing a sort of takeaway even for clothes.”

Not far away, also Everything, shop dedicated to various objects, will close soon. In this case, the reason lies in the retirement of the historical employee. The owners continue to operate in Brescia.
