Cicero-North Syracuse jumped out to a hot start in their game against Baldwinsville on Tuesday.

C-NS did not let a late rally by the Bees faze them as the Northstars pulled off the 10-9 victory.

C-NS led 10-6 with four minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Bees rattled off three consecutive goals to make it a one-score game. The time ultimately ran out on Baldwinsville’s comeback bid.

The win was the Northstars’ first victory against Baldwinsville since May of 2009.

“We knew that (Baldwinsville) was going to play a full four quarters,” C-NS coach Chuck Wilbur said. “These guys weren’t going to go away. They have the heart of a champion… we had to be perfect towards the end in order to come out of there and escape with the win.”

C-NS was propelled offensively by a strong performance from Rocco Villano. The senior midfielder tallied a game-high four goals. Cy Liberman had a similarly impressive four assists. Donovan Chaney, Tanner Long and Adrian Sweeney racked up two goals apiece.

Goalie Leyton Sullivan was a brick wall for the Northstars. The senior’s 14 saves matched a season-high.

Baldwinsville had multiple players with impressive outings. Dylan Garcia and Judson Ferris dropped three goals each. Brady Garcia added two goals and an assist. Tieman Lynch had one goal and one assist.

Baldwinsville’s Trevor Sutton had a solid showing in goal. Sutton recorded six saves against sixteen shots for the Bees.

C-NS jumped ahead of Baldwinsville into the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro Division standings after the win. The victory also snapped the two-game skid that the Northstars were on heading into Tuesday’s matchup.

“There are no easy games in Class A,” Wilbur said. “You’re literally playing four or five of the best teams not just in the state, but in the country.”

C-NS (7-3) has another league game coming up on Tuesday at Liverpool. Baldwinsville (6-5) will look to right the ship in a matchup versus West Genesee on Tuesday.
