The season finale did not live up to expectations, or in any case not in line with what was done in the first part of the second adventure Gaetano Auteri on the Giallorossi bench, did not influence the judge’s judgment Benevento on the work of the Syracuse coach. The Giallorossi owner, however, is convinced that Auteri is the right man to start from, both in the case in which the Strega were to succeed in achieving the objective of an immediate return to the cadettry, and if on the contrary he were to be forced to return to the ribbons starting point of the next Serie C championship. The club intends to extend the second marriage with the Giallorossi coach who has the contract expiring on 30 June, with an option to renew which would be triggered automatically only in the event of promotion to Serie B.
But Benevento does not want to wait for the outcome of the season, they prefer to make a firm point right now, evidently because they aim to make Auteri the cornerstone of their technical project. The confirmation of the Sicilian coach would guarantee technical continuity and this is what we are working on: an extension for another season is on the table, but it is not excluded that in the end Vigorito may also decide to propose a two-year dealin order to equate Auteri’s contractual obligation to that of the technical director Marcello Carli, who is known to be linked to the via Santa Colomba partnership until 30 June 2026.
Probably already today, after the Giallorossi owner’s arrival at the Rome retreat, the parties will sit around a table to discuss the details, starting with the salary which could include bonuses in the event of a move up in category, exactly as already expected for the same Carli. For sure, Auteri would be happy to continue his adventure in the shadow of the Sleeper, even more so if he were to be able to do so with a multi-year agreement that would allow him to exploit an adequate time frame to be able to develop a technical project worthy of the name. In short, Benevento lives the present with an eye towards the future.
