Because after 34 years of honorable service, the department head, one of the most expert of the Teramo firefighters, can enjoy his well-deserved retirement.
Last night, for the umpteenth time, the moving sirens wailing deployment of the red vehicles, which he himself drove for years and years, accompanied the greeting organized by colleagues from the barracks, in via Diaz. For Vittorio Gabriele, a proud period of professional life comes to an end, which began in 1980, on that 5 December which earned him his first assignment to a command as a driver, starting from Cremona and Bologna what will be a career full of successes over the years. satisfactions.
Because the mission of people like Vittorio Gabriele is that, as he wrote in the social greeting, of “to restore smiles and hope to some poor unfortunates and to help in some way people who for various reasons find themselves without anything“. He did it, from the ’96 earthquake in Macerata, to the Sarno flood, again in the earthquakes of San Giuliano in Molise and L’Aquila in 2009. He remembers and we still remember it too, that rescue that the team of firefighters who arrived from Teramo where he was also there, he carried out this action at the San Gregorio orphanage, saving five children and a couple of nuns from the rubble.
