Interviewed at notebooks de La Gazzetta dello Sportthe former coach of Milan and the national team Arrigo Sacchi spoke about the situation at the Rossoneri home, in particular regarding the choice of the future coach who will replace Stefano Pioli: “I have read many names of coaches that I appreciate for the future AC Milan bench but it seems that a fundamental aspect has not been taken into consideration, that is, if it is complicated for a foreign player to fit into Italian football, it is even more so for a coach. In my opinion it takes two seasons to understand what our championship is and how it is, regardless of the value of the coaches.”
About what he would do: “Why not keep Pioli? I consider his experience positive: he won the championship in a club that spends less than its opponents and this year he should finish second. Furthermore, it would be important to understand who chose the Milan players, because if the managers chose them then the responsibilities should be divided in half. I think that Pioli deserves respect for what he gave and how he behaved. He is a coach who has been able to improve over time and even though he has made mistakes, making mistakes is human and he had the humility to question himself and admit them.”
The alternative: “I would bet on a top coach like Klopp, Ancelotti or Guardiola but if these are unavailable names, a name I like is De Zerbi. He would be a coach who could do well because he comes from important experiences that have made him mature.”
