“Changes of leadership within the majority occurred without political consequences, while Gironacci expresses sympathies for the League and is punished with the withdrawal of delegations.” This is the accusation made by the minority against the mayor in the City Council, during the discussion he opened with the reading of the decree with which he revoked, for the second time, the councilor’s powers to Manola Gironacci. The opposition’s reference is to the transitions of Pier Paolo Turchi and Gianluca Crocetti from Civitanova Unica to Vince Civitanova and Fratelli d’Italia. “Instead Gironacci, of Civitanova Unica, expresses sympathies for the League and it is the crime of lèse majesté. It is a military way of administering which overlooks the value of people and in this case it strikes a woman” says Silvia Squadroni (We are Civitanova) while Elisabetta Giorgini (It depends on us) underlines how “the continuation of this situation undermines the balance of the women’s quotas in the council”. During the debate, news arrives of the second appeal to the TAR presented by Gironacci to request the annulment of the revocation decree bis and it will be a tangle of causes because, in the meantime, the council has decided to appeal to the Council of State the verdict with which the Tar put Gironacci back in the saddle in March. A legal battle that involves costs for the Municipality and Francesco Micucci (Pd) asked the mayor to communicate the figures of the fees of the lawyers appointed by the Municipality, a figure not provided during the debate. The mayor also read in the chamber the reasons with which the councilors of three out of five lists (minus Lega and FdI) asked to get rid of Gironacci. Civitanova Unica in its letter defines the appeal to the TAR as “serious” and speaks of “political ambiguity, damage to trust, lack of transparency resulting from closeness to other groups”, Forza Italia of “governability put at risk” and Vince Civitanova of “conduct that creates an ethical problem that can only be overcome with the revocation of delegations”. Ciarapica for his part reiterated that “although the transition to the League has not been formalised, the declarations and behaviors have irreversibly marked the detachment with the civic body to which he belongs, Civitanova Unica, and the problem of effective representation has therefore arisen”.
