“I was very impressed by Rolando’s statements, Candidate of parties and “doing”, on the restyling project of the Porto Vecchio released to two newspapers. “Block everything” is a statement that makes no sense from a legal or administrative point of view, and I will explain why, and it is a message that can have potentially very dangerous effects on public opinion, associations, stakeholders and investors. You don’t need to block anything, you need to know the procedures well and put them into practice”, says Alessandro Mager, candidate for Mayor of the civic coalition for Sanremo (Forum Sanremo, Idea Sanremo, Sanremo al Centro, Anima).

“Let’s go in order – continues Mager -. First: the new project for the port had not yet been published, simply because it had just been awarded by the engineer. Burastero, manager of Public Works of the Municipality of Sanremo. Second: that the new project was different from the one that had attracted public interest was obvious, since the two projects were initially in competition. Third: the new project does not present substantial changes but some design differences that the civic coalition for Sanremo considers a step backwards compared to the original project, and on this, even after having listened to all the users of the port area, we already know how and where we will go to intervene, from June. Fourth, the most important aspect: in the competent administrative headquarters, the Services Conference, all the bodies, the bodies involved (Region, Superintendency, etc.) and all the users of the Port (nautical and fishing associations, trade, services, etc. ) can and must request all the most appropriate changes. As mentioned, it is our intention to return to the original project by making the necessary changes, but if there is a need for further evaluations, everyone will be heard in the Services Conference. Fifth: the Services Conference lasts only theoretically 90 days: if there are changes that require suspensions and additions, as in this case, the timing is extended quite a bit. Realistically, I expect that the decision-making Services Conference for the Port can last at least all of 2024, adequate time to carry out all the final necessary changes. Sixth and last important aspect: Sanremo does not need to “block” anything, nor misleading and destabilizing messages for economic operators and investors, on the contrary it needs speed, concreteness, greater efficiency and above all wider sharing, especially on the so-called large works”.

“In this regard – concludes Alessandro Mager – I have undertaken to create permanent working groups on major works from June, and the Port will be the first among all: administration, offices, interested economic operators, associations and companies involved in the works will have to periodically compare the timetable, the progress of the work and any critical issues during construction. This will be our approach: this is how Sanremo will grow.”
