PORTO SANT’ELPIDIO First of May, is the highlight of the five-day celebration which, in its eighteenth edition, has become a festival. Workers’ Day remains in the tradition and therefore the inevitable market exhibition returns, stalls spread all over the seafront, and 160 events that make your head spin just reading about them. It is worth not missing one of the points located along the seven km of seafront and in the centre, making sure that the weather holds up, it will be fun even with the‘umbrella.
The coast
The whole coast is full from Playa de Cococciò to the southern platform passing through Piazza Garibaldi and via Principe Umberto, Battisti, Mameli, with maximum peaks at Orfeo Serafini and, towards the south, not only on the beach but in the green areas in front including via Curtatone and especially via Marina. All the chalet restaurants go far beyond lunch and dinner, they have music and dancing and you are truly spoiled for choice. The driving force of the party are the young people and today they will have their fill of them. You can park in the camper area, south of the municipal swimming pool and north of the pine forest. And then we throw ourselves into the chaos.
The bus
The free shuttle bus always running stops south of the swimming pool, in the square and north of the pine forest. Among the sea of events there are the inevitable itinerant street artists, clowns, living statues, circus arts, fire shows, fakirs, aerial acrobatics, stilt walkers, ponies and donkeys, hula hop on skates, action painting and so on and so forth you name it, including Carnival and all the sports in the known world, including Nordic walking. The picnic is a Portoelpidiense May Day classic and will be facing the sea. Settemari organized itself in this regard, with a side dish of pop rock music.
But bands, live music, DJ sets are truly everywhere. The chalets that make music are Guneson, Polpette & Pampero, Esabeach, Caribe, Controvento, Saxa Beach, Bagni Pazzi, Moyto, there is Vasco in via Marina.
