The 27th International Piano Performance Competition ‘Premio Mauro Paolo Monopoli’ starts on May 1st, in the splendid setting of the Curci Municipal Theater in Barletta, with an extraordinary international participation. In fact, there are over 300 participants from Italy, Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, South Korea, Germany, Japan, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Mexico, Mongolia, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Singapore, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay, USA and Uzbekistan.

‘An extraordinary opportunity for comparison between artists from all over the world, a healthy musical challenge that will see the city of Barletta as the protagonist with its artistic beauties and promoter of a dialogue of peace between all peoples’ – is the comment of the Mayor Dr. Mino Cannito and the culture councilor Dr. Oronzo Cilli. A prestigious International Jury, made up of the masters Roberto Domingos (Brazil – Germany), Marsida Koni (Albania), Aki Kuroda (Japan), Herton Mikeli (Albania) Mario Coppola (Italy), Gianluca Luisi (Italy) and Francesco Monopoli

(Italy) will select the 3 finalists who will then be protagonists on May 5th of the Final Symphonic Concert, with the ICO Suoni del Sud Symphony Orchestra conducted by Benedetto Montebello, which will be held at the Curci Theatre, with the performance of 3 great concerts for piano and orchestra. The 34th edition of the International Music Competitions for Young Musicians ‘Città di Barletta’ will start on May 6th which will see from 7th to 9th May the sections dedicated to guitar, strings, wind instruments and chamber music and from 10th to 12th May those dedicated to piano and to the composition. The competitions are held with the patronage and support of the Municipality of Barletta, the Puglia Region, the Ministry of Culture and Nuovo Imaie, with the collaboration of Buzzi Unicem, the Megamark Foundation, the engineer. Luca Dimiccoli and in synergy with the accommodation facilities of the Barletta Ricettiva Association and the Hotel dei Cavalieri.

Prizes will be awarded for a total of 30,000 euros and 20 Concert Prizes, with the Nuovo Imaie Prize and the Special Prizes AB Michelangeli, Claudio Ceschini, Marida Bonadies – Barletta Ricettiva. The wish that Maestro Carlo Maria Giulini, former Honorary President of the Competition, expressed to the young participating musicians is fully realized: “With the hope that the Young Generations are at the service of Music and know how to give, through Sound, what they the Great Geniuses created to enrich the Spiritual Life of Human Beings.”
