One big party, punctuated by many events in the city and in the province. To celebrate the workers they range from street demonstrations, promoted by the unions, to the Acli initiatives, passing through religious functions in local companies.
Because May 1st is a celebration, but above all it is an occasion to reflect on problems related to the world of work.
TO Brescia, the three main trade unions CGIL, CISL and UIL have organized «Let’s build together a Europe of peace, work and social justice»: the concentration will be held in Piazza Garibaldi at 9, then at 11, in Piazza Loggia, the interventions by union delegates; the confederal secretary of the CGIL, Lara Ghiglione, closes the event.
As regards religious appointments, at 3pm Sabbio Churchesthe bishop of Brescia Pierantonio Tremolada celebrates mass in the «Dall’Era Valerio srl» company in via De Gasperi, while in Vallecamonica, at 11, with the priests of the area in the Apave Cpm factory, in via Artigiani 63 in Bienno, there will be Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re.
Finally, a Zocco di Erbusco, in the heart of Franciacorta, the provincial Workers’ Day will be staged, promoted by the Christian Workers Movement. And the choice falls on Erbusco because, starting from 1983, by will of president Giuseppe Giudici, the local club has committed itself to celebrating this anniversary every year.
The meeting is at 9.30 in the Claraluna company in via De Gasperi 39, where a welcome aperitif will be offered. At 10.15 there will be the blessing of the company and all the activities of the industrial area, at 10.30 the procession will depart from via Consolare and at 11 mass in the parish church of San Lorenzo celebrated by Monsignor Giancarlo Scalvini and concelebrated by Don Andrea Dotti and the parish priest of Zocco, Don Bruno Colosio. At 11.45 it will be the turn of greetings from the president of Mcl, Margherita Peroni, and the authorities present, before refreshments at 12 in the Pensioners’ office.
