TARANTO The wait is frantic: Taranto – protagonist of an extraordinary year on the green rectangle – is in full playoff mood. Those who put Serie B up for grabs, the rossoblù, haven’t played them for 12 years. Capuano, rather than play-offs, defined them as a “carousel of dreams”: the pass to sit in the very first row had also been removed, but the four-point penalty – on which the Sports Justice (through the Coni Guarantee Board) will definitively rule on Friday – made the team relegated a few places, whose tour will begin next Tuesday against Latina. All except disruptions. Taranto will arrive at the match in the best possible conditions. All at the disposal of Capuano who, during these days of waiting, will have the task of fully restoring players who are not in top form, but in any case eligible for recruitment. This is the case, for example, of the midfield highlander, Calvano, a real rock during the championship and often called to work overtime, even more so after Romano’s sudden farewell. In Latina he wasn’t even on the bench: a “deserved” rest period for an indispensable player in the rossoblù technical project.
Also to be found are Ferrara and Kanoute, both extra men until March. The first, in Torre del Greco, suffered an injury that forced him into the pits for almost two months: the inventiveness is there (six assists in the season), but the condition is lacking a bit and that, I play strength, will have to be recovered during the playoffs. The second, top scorer of the group with 13 goals, is not experiencing a transcendental period both for physical and perhaps also mental reasons: Latina’s substitution sent him into a rage so much so that Zangla, Capuano’s second, had him to get him back on track pulled “getting” a two-match disqualification. From the series: to add insult to injury. Attitude needs to be reviewed, but for the play-offs we need the best version of the Senegalese, the enterprising one who enchanted all of Taranto until 18 February, the day of Crotone’s extraordinary double in just seven minutes. But beyond the players who need to fully recover, Capuano has several certainties on his side. The first ever was the one concerning the rearguard package, which finally returned airtight: in the second round, the rossoblù conceded only 13 goals, eleven with the standard defensive structure made up of Luciani, Miceli and Enrici. Thirty goals conceded in the season: more important numbers, from this point of view, have been collected only by league leaders Juve Stabia and Avellino.
Furthermore, in view of the playoffs, Miceli will return to full speed after missing the last day of the championship in Latina due to disqualification. The defense turns around, but also the attack and, in particular, Simeri. The first striker finally managed to carve out an important space for himself on the rossoblù board: heavy goals against Avellino and Latina to seal the excellent moment of form. An important evolution, especially in terms of performance: the number 10 has equaled the markings of the former Cianci and has no intention of slowing down, especially with a view to the playoffs. All this also taking into consideration Simeri’s alter ego, De Marchi, who is not a bomber, but who with his physicality guarantees quantity and centimeters to the Ionian attack maneuver. A footballer, therefore, good at attacking depth and well integrated into the rossoblù’s idea of offensive football. Certainties, therefore, are not lacking.
