The Tuesday semi-finals of the 5-a-side Regions Football Tournament – taking place in Calabria – are a whirlwind of emotions: a team from the Sardinia Regional Committee goes to the final (the Under19, on the cover) but there is also applause for the other team , the Women’s (in the gallery), defeated by the reigning champions of Veneto, which stops among the top four Italian Representatives.
Mister Perdighe’s boys are in history. The final was won (tomorrow, 1 May, 6pm at the PalaCalafiore in Reggio Calabria, live on Futsaltv.it) after a proud match and a victory achieved with a burst of pride in the two minutes before the siren.
The Sardinian lead goes to Murtinu, Piedmont equalizes in the 11th minute with Garino and then takes the lead five minutes later with Maggio (1-2). Addari puts everything back on level terms (2-2) a few seconds before the break.
At the beginning of the second half Pepe scored immediately and then the great island epilogue: Chighini equalized (3-3) and then Marco Melis (4-3) dragged the young Sardinians to the historic final against Calabria, the hosts.
In the afternoon, Mr. Tuveri’s girls, despite an orderly and proud match, were unable to get the better of Veneto.
Mister Carlos Bruno’s girls immediately took an advantage in the first half thanks to goals from Anna Valente and Francesca Basso. Beatrice Primolan supported the result in the 12th minute. In the final, Eleonora Boussaid’s goal made the defeat less bitter for Sardinia who had always scored at least three goals throughout the TDR.
Veneto will defend the title in the final. Open stage applause for our representative team just a whisker away from the first women’s final.
