The family returned to Valdarno last night. Tomorrow, in the afternoon, the body of Marco Merli will land at Fiumicino international airport, directly from Morocco, where he died on Sunday morning inside a resort in Marrakech. Thursday morning the funeral home, which will be set up inside the Church of Santa Lucia. The funeral will be held the following day, Friday 3 May at 3pm in the church of San Lorenzo. The body will be buried in the Misericordia cemetery in Montecarlo. Sangiovannese has announced that on Friday at 2pm the coffin will pass through the Virgilio Fedini stadium where all the Italian teams, technicians and managers, will receive it in their official uniforms for a final hug.

The last farewell for the Sangiovannese entrepreneur, who passed away at just 61 years of age due to cardiac arrest. A tragedy that has affected the entire community, which has rallied around his family in recent days, in particular his wife and two children, who were on holiday with him when the unthinkable happened. A river of affection, which will certainly be replicated in the next few days, before the funeral. The latest photos of Marco Melli, posted on social media, portray him happy in Morocco, where he had decided to spend the long weekend between 25 April and 1 May to celebrate his wife’s birthday. No one could have imagined that those images would be the last of his earthly life. Which ended too soon.
