CREAM – Lombardy Region has announced its intention to start the procedure to arrive at the rCluster recognition for the Lombardy Cosmetic Systemas a point of reference in the sector regional cosmetic. This important step was taken as part of the region’s economic development strategy, aimed at supporting and promoting the innovation and competitiveness of Lombardy businesses.
The Cosmetic Cluster it would therefore be the tenth cluster recognized by the Lombardy Region, together with the other 9 Technology Clusters recognized since 2011.
“It has all the requirements of excellence and validation of the sector and of the cluster organization” he confirms Alessandro Fermi, councilor for University, Research and Innovation of the Lombardy Region. “The Lombard Cosmetic Cluster represents a dynamic and interconnected network of companies, academic institutions, research centers and associations operating in the cosmetics sector. Thanks to its coordination and collaboration role, the Cluster facilitates the sharing of knowledge, access to specialized resources and the creation of synergies between the various players in the Lombardy cosmetics panorama”.
The meeting took place yesterday at Palazzo Lombardia where, in addition to councilor Fermi, the president of REI – Reindustria Innovazione was present Marco Luca Bressanelli together with the general manager Ilaria Massari, the mayor of Crema Fabio Bergamaschithe Honorable Silvana Comaroli, the regional councilor Riccardo Vitariin concert with all territorial political forces.

“The recognition of the cluster represents a very important milestone for consolidating and relaunching cosmetic industrial excellence, the protagonist of our territory. Crema plays a key role in animating the Cluster” he underlines Fabio Bergamaschi. “The concentration of numerous innovative companies positively fuels the competitiveness of the entire supply chain, but the connection with the world of schools, of the ITS Academy that we are already developing and of the university courses that we can now imagine to develop research and innovation, is strategic. The goal is clear: further root in the Crema area and Lombardy an industrial knowledge that is a protagonist of the global market”.
The Lombardy Cosmetic Cluster aims to further consolidate its position as a center of excellence in the cosmetics sector, promoting interaction between businesses, institutions and the scientific community to stimulate innovation, employment and economic development in the region.
This important recognition comes following a multi-year journey undertaken by cosmetics in recent decades, not least with the recognition in 2022 of the Lombard Cosmetic System as an “innovative model” of aggregation of the research system and the cosmetic manufacturing supply chain, represented by the two important associations: Cosmetics Italy, National Association of Cosmetic Industries with its over 600 companies, more than half of which are concentrated in Lombardy, and Cosmetics Technology Hub, Association that brings together over 100 companies in the contracting supply chain.
The players in the university and training system who have been carrying out activities serving the sector for years are the University of Milan, the University of Pavia, the Polytechnic of Milan, the University of Milan Bicocca, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, ITS Cremona New Technologies for Made in Italy, ITS New Technologies for Life.
