Naples, chemical toilets keep an eye on yourself from vigilance. The Municipality, as already happened during the last Christmas holidays, has arranged public toilets in the historic center also in the spring break, available to tourists, but immediately activated a surveillance contract.

In total, 30 thousand euros were invested for «the security service of chemical toilets located in various points of the City of Naples and reporting of any malfunctions”, as clarified by managerial determination number 19 of last 3 April issued by the “Urban Observatory service for tourism and territorial marketing” based on the structure “Economic development area and tourism” of the municipality of Naples.

The question arises from a negative experience of the 2022 Christmas holidays, those preceding the last ones. On that occasion, during the night, gangs of hooligans raged in the chemical toilets located in the historic center. One of the most significant assaults ended with the portable toilet being overturned and found upside down the next morning. To avoid further damage and discourage new acts of hooliganism, the Municipality has thus decided to provide a surveillance service aimed exclusively at chemical toilets intended for tourists.

Okay, many will think that hooligans exist everywhere and that we shouldn’t always create a “case” on Neapolitan issues. But you will all agree, dear readers, that placing a security guard in front of a street toilet is not a common event.
