The Belicittà Shopping Center in Castelvetrano hosts the exhibition “The Prince of the Seas” by the Trapani photographer Giuseppe Di Salvo, which will be held from 11 to 26 May 2024.

Di Salvo’s shots, captured in 1992 off the coast of Trapani in the San Giuliano Palazzo tuna fishery, offer an intimate look at the life of the fishermen and their traditions, the profound connection between the sea and the history of the community.

The inauguration is scheduled for May 11th at 6.00 pm, while, among the collateral events, on May 18th at 6.00 pm the book “Il Signore delle Tonnare” by the journalist and writer Ninni Ravazza will be presented, an in-depth analysis of the millenary practice of tuna fishing along the coasts of Sicily and a tribute to the adventurous life of Nino Castiglione, who from a modest trader became the moral heir of the Florio family.

During the exhibition “The Prince of the Seas” there will be moments of tasting of delicious tuna products, offering visitors the opportunity to savor local excellence and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Sicilian seafaring tradition through the photographic exhibition.

The exhibition, organized by the Belicittà Shopping Center in collaboration with the “R. D’Altavilla”, the TED Professional Training Institute and the Nino Castiglione Spa company, represents a unique opportunity to reflect on the beauty and fragility of our natural and cultural heritage, celebrating the unique traditions of Sicily that deserve to be preserved .

The Belicittà Shopping Center, confiscated from organized crime, today constitutes a safe space returned to the territory. Thanks to its initiatives, the Center represents a tangible tribute to the community’s resilience and the desire to proudly preserve its traditions of a healthy economy.
