2023 budget with 74 million surplus: council approves by majority

The city council approved the 2023 final budget with 24 votes in favor and 6 against. The red lights were those of the minority, in whose name Emanuele Cozzoli, of Fratelli d’Italia, spoke. The “no” to the opposition’s statement was motivated by the fact that “the administration surplus – said the councilor during the explanation of vote – is not truthful since the active and passive residuals of the current accounts still held by the Municipality of Trani”.

The manager of the Financial Area, Loredana Napolitano, replied that “in any case these are small figures in a range of current accounts which have dropped to just 5, of which three belong to the local police, while in the past they had even reached 23”.

In the administration surplus, 1,200,000 euros have been tied up to reconcile the debit and credit items with the investee companies Amet and Amiu.

The 2023 final account of the Municipality of Trani closed with an administrative result of 74 million euros as of 31 December, thus highlighting a growth of 6 million compared to the 68 in the 2022 statement. Consequently, the greater availability of sums in positive territory will allow the Municipality of Trani to confirm and strengthen the tied sums.

«In any case – says councilor Lignola -, the balance sheet of the Municipality of Trani is in excellent health. We have totally recovered the deficit with which the Bottaro administration started in 2015 after the commissioner’s management and the risk of financial collapse”.
