“At a time when there was no search for consensus, I judged his commitment to be a positive sign and I proudly claim to have worked for this”.
This was said by former city councilor Alessandro Gentiletti, always very present in the battles to fight inequalities and the defense of civil rights, in reference to the presence in the square last year of the vice mayor Riccardo Corridore and the patronage granted by the Municipality of Terni at Pride.
THE INTERVIEW WITH THE VICE MAYOR AT PRIDE 2023
This year the situation is different. “The organizers have chosen not to ask for patronage from the administration, I understand – states Gentiletti – respect, especially on the part of these associations, without prejudice to the fact that the patronage of the institutions, regardless of who represents them at the moment, is always a positive.”
Given this situation, however, “I believe that there are many ways for the administration to demonstrate support for LGBT battles and that it can do so independently – Gentiletti continues – I invite it to do so, to display the flag rainbow, I ask you on a personal basis.”
Gentiletti then also states that he, personally “as a militant, would certainly have been ready to ask for it (the patronage, ed.)”.
Gentiletti claims that he voted for Bandecchi in the run-off: “I exposed myself to criticism but I remain convinced, one year later, of the choice I made in the run-off because for me the right that lost the elections is worse than this administration”.
