More than 70 agents employed, 20 under investigation and one complaint. This morning the police put a stop to the regime of terror created by the gang Carpi AK-47. It was the complaint, in 2021, by a Pakistani worker that triggered the investigation by the Modena Prosecutor’s Office, Digos and Carpi police station. This is how a criminal association was discovered, made up of Pakistani citizens and dedicated to extortion, personal injury, threats, self-laundering and gangmastering.

These are the crimes charged to a group of people residing between Carpi, Piacenza, Mantua and Brescia and recipients of two separate detention orders issued by the investigating judge. There are 20 people under investigation in total: men of Pakistani origin, three of whom became Italian citizens. All workers dedicated to violent actions on command.

The ordinance

The first ordinance concerns 18 people suspected of participating in a criminal association known as AK-47 Carpi. The second order was issued against 2 other suspects, from the province of Brescia, for complicity in the attempted murder against a suspect from the AK-47 Carpi association, who was stabbed in the abdomen and hit with sticks and clubs. The man was saved only thanks to the arrival of the police. This latest episode dates back to 6 October 2022 and arose from the conflict between two distinct groups of Pakistani citizens (in Carpi and in the province of Brescia): in addition to the material perpetrators of the attempted murder, 14 other men are under investigation for having participated in the punitive expedition left from the province of Brescia.

Most of the people involved in the criminal association, at the time of the facts, were employees of a logistics services company linked to the movement of goods with registered office in the Vicenza area, which had contracted the courier workforce within a well-known shipping company. According to what emerged from the investigations, the group recruited Pakistani workers on behalf of third parties, profiting from their wages by withholding a share, in exploitative conditions: the victims had to submit to serious threats of retaliation both in Italy and in their country of origin.
