This morning the opening of the Enzo Ferrari Park in Modena has been postponed by an houri.e. at 7 instead of the usual 6, to make room for exceptional experimentation, i.e. gods tests regarding the use of a drone for the transport of biomedical materials.
The announcement of the small change of program and its reasons, readable in full on the website of the Municipality of Modena, explains that the tests, carried out by Unimore – i.e. the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia – were organized in the park during the The public closing time has been specifically extended to create a flight context in line with the regulations, which requires the absence of people for these operations.
In detail, the activity involved a drone with a refrigerated container, specifically designed for the transport of blood bags, medicines but also organs, in emergency contexts (such as floods or earthquakes), or in situations in which ordinary traffic may be compromised or you need to reach the locations quickly.
The flight of the drone was taken care of by the certified operator Zephyris the final act of “Mo-Uas4life”an interdisciplinary research project that is co-financed by Fondazione Modena as part of the projects Far – University Research Fund – of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
