One of these is particularly fascinating, although little known, it is Coreglia Antelminelli. The history of the village is ancient and is linked to the construction of castlearound which a small community was created.
First under the domain of the Rolandinghi, lords of Loppia, then in 1316, it was the turn of Castruccio Castracani, lord of Lucca. In 1341 it passed to the Florentines and then in 1352, a Francesco Castracani of Antelminelli who became Count of Coreglia in 1355.
Thanks to the latter the village reached a great splendor, starting with the expansion of the church, which was also enriched with works of art. There name of the town derives from the Latin of the personal name Cornelius.

In 1862, Antelminelli was added, in honor of those whothe Middle Ages, were first vicars and then counts of this territory. Every building and every stone that makes it up testify this long history with marked medieval characteristics.
