Book presentations, exhibitions and debates, but also informal meetings and particular attention to the climate crisis and the upcoming elections

“May” is back European” in Ravenna: an information, discussion and meeting program for citizens interested in understanding European history and current affairs, promoted by the Europe Direct Romagna Centre.

May is considered the month of Europe following Robert Schuman’s declaration of 9 May 1950, in which the then French Foreign Minister presented the proposal for the creation of an organized Europe, today considered the birth certificate of the Union European.

Over the course of the month there will be a succession of theatrical performances, exhibitions, moments of in-depth study, but also of aggregation and celebration, ranging from proposals for the little ones to technical conferences, with particular attention to the theme of climate change and the European elections of 8 and 9 June, with an information project in via Zirardini entitled “Get informed, reflect, express yourself and your vote”. In addition to the meetings, the streaming platforms PodDare and Radio Social Coast will offer two podcast sections dedicated to voting European and European values.

First date at the theater, Friday 3 May at 21 at the Rasi Theatre, with the show “Europe does not fall from the sky. Sentimental chronicle of a dream, an idea, a project”. Conceived and directed by Alessandro Argnani, text by Laura Orlandini, with Camilla Berardi and Massimo Giordani, edited by Ravenna Teatro. The show will return to the stage on Friday 10 May at 9pm, at the Baccarini Theater in Faenza.

In collaboration with Polis Teatro festival, it is scheduled for Wednesday 8 May at 8pm, at the Rasi Theatre, the play “On the difficulties of telling the truth”, by ErosAntEros, based on Brecht’s work, followed by the dialogue “Disinformation and democratic risk one month after the vote European”, between Alberto Pagani and Michele Marchi, UniBo, Davide Sacco and Agata Tomšič (ErosAntEros) and the photographer Michele Lapini, hosted and moderated by Sara De Ponte.

Friday 17 May, as part of the 2024 Festival of Cultures and the Ravenna welcomes talents project, again at the Rasi Theater, it will be staged at 9pm the theater show “Altro Mondo – Piccole Storie di Cambiamento.Il public writes, dreams, shares”, curated by Mulino ad Arte, which addresses the theme of migration and climate change.

Climate change, one year after the floods in Romagna, is at the center of various initiatives:

Tuesday 7 Mayat 15, in the hall of the Rocca Estense, in Lugo, the conference “Bassa Romagna calls Europe. The role of the European Union in coordinating the response to the climate crisis”, edited by the Europe and strategic planning service of the Union of Municipalities of Lower Romagna. As regards moments of aggregation and informal meetings, it starts on Saturday 4 May at 15, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II in Cotignola, with the XVII “Cotignola Europa” Grand Prix of Pedal Cars (Vap). The most fun, creative, ecological and European Vap race in Romagna organized by the Municipality of Cotignola with the Cotignolese cycling club, Acropolis, Podisti Cotignola, Ic Don Stefano Casadio. Wednesday 8 May, hours 17 The presentation of the results of the “Small Citizens of Europe” project, organized by the Municipality of Russi, will be held at the municipal library of Russi.

Monnet modules, a meeting of the in-depth cycle entitled “In-Contemporanea – History is made in the library – Europe and its surroundings: history of time present”: Friday 10th May at 17Lucrezia Ranieri and Sandro Rogari will discuss the volume “History of Italy in the process of European integration” by Antonio Vasori, in the presence of the author. Friday 17, at the same time, Daniele Pasquinucci (Uni Siena) and Simone Paoli (Uni Pisa) will discuss “Welcoming, integrating, rejecting. Italy and the European Union facing the migration phenomenon” with the author Virginia Minucci.
