The Unified Operations Room of the Tuscan Civil Protection (Soup) has issued a new weather alert, code yellow, for hydrogeological risk and thunderstorms.

The weather warning is valid for the whole day tomorrow, May 1st. As explained by the Regional Council, rains and thunderstorms are expected for tomorrow which, from the internal areas of north-west Tuscany, will tend to extend to the entire region, with particular emphasis on the provinces of Massa Carrara, Pisa, Lucca, Livorno and Grosseto. Strong gusts of wind and hailstorms possible locally. The sea will be very rough in the archipelago and the southern coast.

As President Eugenio Giani adds, rainfall may also take on the character of downpours or thunderstorms, especially in coastal areas. From today’s evening and throughout tomorrow, average cumulative temperatures of around 20-30 mm across the entire region with maximums of 40-60 mm, occasionally higher in the western areas (Massa-Carrara, Lucca, Pisa, Livorno and Grosseto).
