The company management of Usl Umbria 2 will proceed in criminal and civil proceedings against those responsible
SPOLETO, 30 April 2024 – During the day of Sunday 28 April, false and biased text messages and WhatsApp messages circulated in the city of Spoleto in which it was stated verbatim: “I inform you that from tomorrow 118 will transport all fractures to Foligno.
No one (let’s say none) must access the Spoleto emergency room. By order of: Company Health Director, Hospital Director, Emergency Department Director – Urgency, Surgery Department Director, Orthopedics and Traumatology Director. Maybe it’s time to make yourself heard.”
And again verbatim, in the second message: “The measure was adopted by the head of Orthopedics and Traumatology Foligno Spoleto (Dr. Pucci) who accepted the input of the company health management (Dr. Scarpelli) which management simply gave implementation of the third prong project (only prosthetic surgery in Spoleto, trauma surgery in Foligno). If anyone wants to know more, talk to Pucci.”
The management of the Umbria 2 Local Health Authority communicates that these “news” are absolutely baseless, clearly specious and tendentious aimed at unexpectedly attacking the health service of the territory and of the Spoleto hospital, denigrating the structures, the professionals, the management, with the consequence of causing, through false warnings, unjustified alarm among the population.
It is necessary to firmly state, in order to correctly inform citizens, that no provision in this sense has been taken by the company management nor, much less, by some facility managers.
Evidence of this is the constant and adequate care of patients as well as the daily treatment provided to subjects with fractures who turn to the Emergency Department and the Orthopedics and Traumatology department of the “San Matteo degli Infermi” in Spoleto.
In order to protect the prestige and image of the structures and professionals mentioned in the messages, the corporate management of the USL Umbria 2 will proceed to the competent offices to criminally and civilly prosecute the authors and those responsible for these false information disseminated to the population who, in addition to cause unjustified alarm among the population, undermine and damage the operation of health services.
