What links Sorrento to Vito Bardi?
A piece of the Lucanian President’s family resides in Sorrento. The lawyer Gherardo Bardi, brother of the President, lives in the city, where he practices his profession and, at the same time, holds the role of member of the evaluation team of the Municipality of Sorrento.
And from him we learn that there is a strong bond between the mayor, Massimo Coppola, and the reconfirmed President of the Basilicata region.

Is it true, lawyer Bardi, that a tourism promotion event reserved for Basilicata is planned in Sorrento?
Honestly, I don’t have direct knowledge of it, however I have heard of some initiative at the Sorrento Foundation in Villa Fiorentino.
Could President Bardi also be there on that occasion?
As I have already said, I know nothing about it, but I believe that, should an event concerning the Basilicata Region take place here in Sorrento, the President would certainly consider his participation.
When was the last time you were here?
He spent a few days with us last summer and then again in October for my birthday.
Do you love Sorrento?
Of course, he greatly appreciates the beauty of the area and sees the city as an oasis of peace and relaxation.
He also proposed to me the idea of spending, in the future and after my political commitment, longer and more continuous periods to better share and appreciate, together with my family, the beauties of the area. After all, even her children, Andrea and Luca, although they live outside, come to visit their favorite uncle as soon as they can.
And you, lawyer, how did you experience your brother’s electoral victory?
I didn’t expect such a marked success, about 15 percentage points behind, it means a lot. My brother worked well and, in fact, was rewarded for the work carried out in terms of healthcare, infrastructure and tourism promotion without neglecting the interests of the Lucanian population by offering them various benefits (discounts on utilities).
Was it said that the union with the centrists who left the alliance with the left would be decisive?
It was, I think, important in terms of electoral separation, but not for the victory. My brother already managed to win last time in a Region that has always had a strong root in the center left which governed it for over 30 years.
In my opinion, there was also a lot of appreciation for my brother who boasts and has demonstrated competence and efficiency.
