Progressives for Fano 2050: “Once elected we will remedy the most serious flaws of the PRG Seri”

FANO – “As part of the meetings with neighborhoods, associations and productive activities of the city, Stefano Marchegiani and the political forces of the Progressives for Fano 2050 coalition recently met the committee of residents of the area of the former sugar factory who, rightly, they feel threatened by the consequences of the recent approval of the master plan in the city council. The meeting came following an open and frank discussion within the coalition on the new PRG, whose hasty approval, so close to the end of the council, caused strong dissent even among the Progressives 2050.
While recognizing in the new master plan some progress in some respects compared to the previous one, the Progressives for Fano 2050 and Stefano Marchegiani reiterate the presence in the approved document of quite a few strong critical issues, which will certainly be even more relevant if, as anticipated during the sessions of the public meetings, the observations accepted by the City Council, against the contrary opinion of the Council, should not be incorporated into the plan”.

“Among these critical issues, in addition to the forecast of a pouring of 3 million square meters of concrete, the expansion of the B3, also opposed by the Province, the last-minute amendment by Mayor Seri certainly stands out which, eliminating the results of a participatory planning process started at the beginning of his first mandate and denying the provisions contained in the plan presented to the Council by the Council itself, he reconfirmed for the area of the former sugar factory a now anachronistic production destination, even eliminating the ban on unhealthy industries, placed for decades to protect the health of children who attend the neighboring primary school, of residents and workers and users of personal service activities who have settled in the immediate vicinity of the area in the meantime”.

“The Progressives for Fano 2050 and Stefano Marchegiani have agreed that, once elected to the city government, they will adopt the necessary measures to immediately remedy the most serious flaws of the Seri PRG, starting by restoring, as quickly as possible, the ban on first and second class unhealthy industries for the entire area of the former sugar factory included in the current unitary sector, to prevent the operation of industries harmful to health in that area, now incorporated into the town, and then resume the path that emerged from the laboratory of participatory planning, which correctly indicated the new vocation of the area in multiple uses, from which production was excluded”.

“The need remains to identify a more suitable area, located near the motorway, where a logistics hub can be created, which in any case can represent an economically strategic opportunity for the city in order to make it increasingly the hinge between the north and south of the region”.
