The activities of the Cinematographic Culture Club continue “Don Mauro – Over time” with the “Cinema and Music” review cycle in collaboration with the “Spontini” Musical Institute. The event, in fact, aims to combine the screening of musical-themed films and the subsequent performance of local musicians. The first evening will take place on Thursday 2 May with the screening of “The Magic Flute of Piazza Vittorio” (2018, 83′) by Mario Tronco and Gianfranco Cabiddu with Ernesto Lopez Maturell and Violetta Zironi. The performance will follow Alessia de Angelis (Flute). The film is loosely based on Mozart’s opera, The Magic Flute. It is a musical film that revisits, enriching and adapting it to the present day, Mozart’s work, interpreted in 8 languages by the musician-actors of the multi-ethnic Piazza Vittorio Orchestra, each according to their own musical cultures. Everything takes place in the gardens of Piazza Vittorio, which magically come alive during the night, and contrary to what happens in Mozart’s opera, the female characters can change the course of events, taking on a decisive role. The Piazza Vittorio Orchestra won the 2020 David di Donatello as Best Musician. The series will continue on Thursday 9 May with “School of rock” (2003, 105′) by Richard Linklater with Jack Black, Mike White and Sarah Silverman. This will be followed by a musical performance by Maestro Francesco Di Giovanni (Guitar). The program will end on May 16th with the screening of “Pina” (2011, 106′) by Wim Wenders with Pina Bausch, a tribute film to the famous German choreographer Pina Bausch (1940-2009) with her dance theater company in Wuppertal. This will be followed by a performance by the students of the teacher’s dance class Maria Luigia Neroni, Entrance to the screenings is reserved for members, but it is possible to join at the beginning of each evening (annual pass 6 euros, young people up to 25 years 3 euros).
