For years Lapressa.it has offered free and independent information to its readers without any type of public contribution. Private advertising covers part of the costs, but it is not sufficient. For this reason we ask those who read us and follow us every day to give us, if they wish, a contribution based on their possibilities. Even a small support, multiplied by the tens of thousands of people from Modena and Emilia-Romagna who read us daily, is fundamental.
The volunteer lane clowns and social clowns of VIP Modena are preparing to fill Piazza Mazzini in Modena with colors and smiles for Red Nose Day 2024. On Saturday 18 May the event, now in its twentieth edition, will be renewed and is the only event during which the necessary funds are raised to support the association’s projects.
Games, dances, colors, soap bubbles and many many smiles. VIP Modena volunteers will liven up the city square for the whole day, giving life to shows and moments of celebration for children of all ages, from 0 to 120 years and over. Red Nose Day will also be an opportunity to enter the VIP world, to learn about its values and projects, to learn to recognize the VIP Italia clowns – the only ones authorized for this fundraiser – equipped with the identifying coat (characterised by written We live in Positive on the back, with the red collar, the fluorescent yellow and green striped sleeves), of the badge and of course the inseparable red nose.
With the resources collected during Red Nose Day it is possible to support training courses for clown volunteers, missions organized in developing countries, projects to be carried out in schools and help spread awareness among public opinion. knowledge of clown therapy and the philosophy of “Viviamo In Positivo”, at the basis of the values of VIP Italia ODV. All these activities support the basic mission of every VIP Italia volunteer, that is, the service between the wards of hospitals, RSAs and in places of suffering, to bring smiles and light-heartedness to places where they are often missing.
The numbers
The VIP Italia ODV Federation was founded in 2003; currently, in Italy and in the Republic of San Marino, there are over 70 federated associations, for a total of approximately 4,500 volunteers.
In 2016, approximately 150 thousand hours of clown volunteering were provided in the 200 affiliated facilities, including hospitals and retirement homes.
The pandemic period has greatly penalized the world of volunteering like many other sectors but activities are gradually resuming and in the province of Modena volunteers are currently serving at the Ramazzini Hospital in Carpi, the Mirandola Hospital, the RSA Cialdini in Modena, and the RSA Ramazzini of Modena in addition to the projects in schools, the Torre project with drug-addicted children of the CEIS of Modena and the AUT AUT project for autistic children.
