Second, again from Liberi nel Vento, the Di Biagio – Di Biagio crew
Great weekend of sailing in the waters off the Marinedì – Marina di Brindisi where, organized by the “GV3” sailing association and the local section of the Naval League, a Hansa class regatta took place for the first time in the Puglia Region 303. Reference boats of the Italian Sailing Federation and the Paralympic Committee, together with the 2.4mR, for the sport of sailing for all.
Liberi nel Vento participated with three boats, six athletes and three companions. The regatta course located under the “Forte a Mare” is fascinating. Great performance by the athletes of the Sangiorgese club who won four of the five tests held.
The first edition of the “Coppa Forte a Mare” is won by the Liberi nel Vento team composed of Sara Conti and Rossella Mengascini ahead of the couple Luna and Giovanni Di Biagio, athletes also from the club based inside the Marina of Porto San Giorgio . Third was the Brindisi crew composed of Turi – Gattinari. Fourth place for the third crew from the Marche composed of Claudia Benzoni and Daniele Malavolta.
“It was very nice to race inside the port of Brindisi. Sunny days, calm seas and oscillating winds, even of good intensity, were the conditions in which we had to compete with the other crews – says the athlete Sara Conti – We were good at interpreting the race course as best we could and the victory final fills us with satisfaction. A victory that we dedicate to all those who believe, animate and support the association’s aims: the sea and its emotions for everyone!!! I want and want to highlight the welcome and the kind hospitality and desire to do well of all the members of the associations that organized the sporting event. We had a great time. Thank you.”
An extraordinary month of April ends for Liberi nel Vento. It started on 6 and 7 April in Palermo with the victory of Luna and Giovanni Di Biagio in the “Una Vela Senza Exclusi” regatta. A double podium the following week in Marsala at the Hansa 303 National Regatta, Luna and Giovanni Di Biagio second and Claudia Benzoni and Daniele Malavolta third. Another important result was Giancarlo Mariani’s third place on 13 and 14 April in Jesolo in the hard-fought 2.4mR National Regatta. And to conclude the splendid result in Puglia last weekend.
As soon as we return to the nautical base from the Brindisi trip, we are already organizing ourselves for the next trip, on 4 and 5 May, to Desenzano in Lombardy to participate in the Hansa 303 National Regatta. And on 19 May it will be Porto San Giorgio’s turn with the first test of the Liberi nel Vento 2024 Championship, 2.4mR and Hansa 303 sailing classes, Sollini Footwear Accessories Trophy – Sollini Unip Lda.
