“Working with young people, for young people (and not so young), whether they abused substances or not, working with schools and in schools and for the community was his bread, it was the area in which he performed best and felt he could give himself best ”.
Colleagues from the Reggio Emilia Local Health Authority remember Simone Bertaccapsychiatrist from the District of Guastalla who passed away suddenly at the age of 60.
Bertacca, originally from Viareggio, had held the role of psychiatrist in the street unit of the SerDP of the Parma AuslL for several years, following the East pole mental health center and since October 2019 he was employed by the pathological addictions service of the ‘ASL of Reggio Emilia. In 2021 he became responsible for the simple operational unit of the SerDP of Guastalla.
Deeply touched by the loss, his colleagues describe him as a “jovial, witty, generous, informal and an uncommon professional” workmate.
“He was much appreciated, it is no coincidence that some interns had opened a blog online with the name: Blog of those who were lucky enough to know Doctor Bertacca. He has always sought to build positive relationships with insight and a brilliant spirit. An opportunity for many to share the daily life of work, to have come a long way together, as people, as operators and as a team. Even when he was overloaded with commitments he was available to listen, ready to take on responsibilities, capable of finding a solution.”
Condolence was expressed in the Parma city council by Fabrizio Pallini: “The unexpected passing of Simone, a colleague and friend, leaves me shocked and disconcerted. Although politically distant, we were united by respect and a unique and particular mutual understanding. If we do not he united us in politics, we were united by the love of music, the constant companion of our lives, and obviously medicine. He had undertaken the difficult art of psychiatry, especially for the benefit of the weakest, the most fragile and those who really needed it We had created, together with my friend Matteo Rubini, an important project at the time of my delegation to the Healthcare of the Municipality of Parma, in Piazza della Pace: the psychologist’s house which he had managed to manage with great love and delicacy, a summer meeting point. for the fragility of the mind that had received hundreds of requests for help, all of which were assisted and resolved. Truly an unexpected and shocking abandonment.”
The funeral is Thursday at 4pm in the parish of San Paolino in Viareggio.
