Messina Volley established itself in the Silver group of the FIPAV Women’s Second Division Championship, finishing in first place with 34 points. On the 12th day, the girls led by coach Domenico Rizzo won the victory, consolidating the lead already acquired. The decisive success was achieved against GGSD Mondo Giovane, who finished in second place. The match, which ended with a score of 3-1 in favor of Messina Volley, took place at the “PalaRescifina”, home of the winners.
Captained by Carmen Tiano, the team showed an extraordinary performance with 11 victories, 10 of which were consecutive, and only one defeat suffered in the final phase of the tournament. With only 8 sets lost out of 35 played, Messina Volley demonstrated a clear superiority on the pitch, accumulating 1035 points scored against the 824 conceded.
Coach Domenico Rizzo underlined the objective of technical and tactical improvement for the team, without focusing exclusively on the rankings. However, the dominance expressed on the pitch confirmed the success of the path undertaken. Tiano praised the commitment and dedication of her teammates, recognizing the importance of teamwork and the constant desire to overcome one’s limits.
The return to the field after years of pause was an emotional experience for Tiano, who expressed gratitude towards the coach Domenico Rizzo and the sporting director Mario Rizzo, attributing them a fundamental role in the success achieved.
