ROVIGO – Non-compliant businesses and workers, criminal fines for employers and fines of 20 thousand euros. It is the outcome of a series of checks carried out in the catering and bar sector throughout the province by Carabinieri of the Labor Inspectorate Unit (Nil) of Rovigo, with the collaboration of the soldiers of the Rovigo and Adria Companies as well as the staff of the Padua-Rovigo Labor Inspectorate, Rovigo headquarters. Controls in the catering sector have in fact been intensified as part of the activities aimed at preventing and repressing the phenomena of exploitation of work and undeclared work and at verifying compliance with the legislation on the protection of workers’ health and safety.

Work not in order

The objective of the operation was to verify the regular employment of workers and compliance with the rules protecting them in the workplace. Checks in the provincial territory revealed several violations committed by employers regarding safety in the workplace: from failure to train to lack of safety and prevention requirements. Irregularities were found in 10 of the companies auditedlocated in the municipalities of Rovigo, Villadose, Lendinara, Badia Polesine and Adria. In total, fines of 20 thousand euros were imposed.

Cameras without authorization

In Rovigo, a check carried out in a minimarket revealed the installation of a video surveillance system in places frequented by workers, but without the necessary authorizations. In Villadose, however, the military checked two bars. In the first room it was found that the employer had not ensured adequate health and safety training for workers and the installation of a video surveillance system without the necessary authorizations was found; in the second, the employer had not ensured adequate health and safety training for workers. The clever ones of the regulation

In the municipality of Lendinara, the Carabinieri of the NiL of Rovigo, assisted by the soldiers of the Rovigo Company Command, together with personnel from the Territorial Labor Inspectorate of Rovigo, carried out an inspection in a bar where it was found that the employer had installed a video surveillance system without the necessary authorizations.
