Healthcare in Basilicata, outpatient activity in Pneumology is strengthened in the hospitals of the Aor of Melfi and Villa d’Agri

The care and assistance activity guaranteed in the hospitals of the ‘San Carlo’ regional hospital will be even stronger: from May, specialist outpatient services will also be added to the clinics already active in the hospitals of Potenza, Lagonegro and Pescopagano the hospitals of Melfi and Villa d’Agri, thanks to the availability of the operational unit of Pneumology directed by Dr. Raimondo Battiloro.

“We want to continue to strengthen the network of our Company’s hospitals, making the collaboration stronger and the outpatient activity even more vigorous, which adds to and integrates the surgical and interventional one”, states the general director of the ‘San Carlo’ regional hospital company. of Potenza Giuseppe Spera. “With the opening of the new Pneumology outpatient diaries of the Melfi and Villa d’Agri hospitals – concludes the general director Spera, wishing the doctors and healthcare workers involved well in their work – the Company is proving to be increasingly attentive also in strategic planning and capable of rationalizing resources and forces, expanding activities, even in a difficult period for the recruitment of specialists”.

“With satisfaction and a sense of responsibility – states the director of Pneumology of the ‘San Carlo’ company Raimondo Battiloro – our department responded positively to the stimuli of the strategic company management, so that the activation of a Pneumology clinic also in the hospitals of Melfi and Villa d’Agri, in addition to the one already active in Potenza, was able to satisfy the increasingly diversified, complex and multidisciplinary demand for health. Thanks to the availability of adequate equipment – continues Doctor Battiloro – at the ‘San Pio da Pietrelcina’ hospital in Villa d’Agri, from May, on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, second level respiratory physiopathology services will be possible (global spirometry, alveolo-capillary diffusion, blood gas analysis, walking test). Furthermore, from 15 May – concludes the pulmonologist – also at the ‘San Giovanni di Dio’ hospital in Melfi, on the first and third Wednesday of each month, it will be possible to ensure a pneumological examination, simple spirometry and blood gas analysis”.
