The State Police reported a 21-year-old born in Turin and domiciled in Milan but of clear Eastern European origins, with a police record for crimes against property, in a state of freedom for receiving stolen goods and possessing tools suitable for burglary.
On the afternoon of 24 April, a call came to 112 NUE reporting two people in a suspicious attitude near the Villa Olmo car park near parked cars and a gray BMW in use by them with a third man on board. Two police officers intervened when the three, aboard the reported car, were moving away from the area, in an attempt to proceed with the inspection and after a short distance in the alleys leading to Via Borgovico, the car was abandoned with the doors open and the its occupants fled.
The officers, after a short foot chase, managed to stop the 21-year-old and take him to the police station where he was identified. From the search on the BMW, which turned out to be registered together with countless other cars to a Milanese criminal still confined in prison in Pavia, the police found and seized a battery hose complete with discs, screwdrivers, a glass-breaking hammer, material believed suitable for committing crimes against property. This activity is in the wake of the intensification of checks on parking areas and which has already made it possible in recent days to arrest another person who cannot be ruled out as being linked to the suspect. The Como Public Prosecutor’s Office was immediately informed of the activity carried out.
Investigations are underway to identify the accomplices.
