The XVI edition of the Convittiadi officially started, hosted for the second consecutive year in Calabria, in the week from 28 April to 5 May. There are approximately 2200 students and educators who, from all over Italy, participate in the event organized by the National Boarding School “P. Galluppi”, directed by professor Stefania Cinzia Scozzafava.
The National Boarding School of Assisi was present with students from the first and second classes of lower secondary school. Many sports are the protagonists, basketball, football, swimming, tennis, athletics, volleyball, chess. Boys and girls are accompanied by the rector Stefano Cammerieri and by the educators Francesco Calisti, Luca Manni, Silvia Caccinelli and Fabio Cintia.
The project, again this year, was largely financed by the Education Department of the Calabria Region, with strong input from the vice-president Giuseppina Princi and found the full support of the Regional Council in the persons of the president Filippo Mancuso and the president of the Budget Commission, Antonio Montuoro.
Presenting the details of the event in the launch conference were the president of the Province of Catanzaro Amedeo Mormile, the mayor of Catanzaro Nicola Fiorita, the general director of USR Calabria Antonella Iunti, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro, Crotone and Vibo Valentia, Pietro Falbo.
