Zelensky calls for speed in the delivery of aid

Volodymyr Zelensky, during a press conference together with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, reiterated the importance of receiving assistance from the West: “It is important that the delivery of military aid is faster. We await positive developments from our partners. We know what our partners can offer. But the faster we send military aid, the more we will be able to stabilize Ukraine” and again “We are working in NATO so that the Allies send more air defense systems. Today Australia announced that it will supply 4 short-range air defense systems. We are focusing on the Patriots and the ammunition.”

It is no secret that all Western forces are doing everything possible to provide a large amount of means to Ukraine to support its independence against Russia, but it will still take time to deliver to the Government of Kiev what it has need: in such a difficult period, in which international conflicts are spreading like wildfire, exchange is not at all easy. Especially for the USA which has recently managed to find an agreement for the sending of new supplies, which will however have to deal at the same time with a delicate situation in the Middle East.

Jens Stoltenberg, however, reassured about the war between Russia and Ukraine, responding to Zelensky’s words: “Serious delays in sending aid have led to serious consequences. But it is not too late for Ukraine to win, more support is now on the way. The allies have heard your appeal.”

An intervention that served to clarify the dynamics of the delays, configuring a constant commitment on the part of all the countries that have the Ukrainian cause at heart. Wars, especially in the contemporary era, are not won overnight and consequently it is plausible that Ukraine could still resist the aggressions engineered by the Kremlin. However, it will be very important to receive new supplies for the entire Ukrainian military apparatus, which without any means of defense could normally collapse due to the inability to react and deploy even a simple counteroffensive that weakens the enemy at key points.

Zelensky’s concerns are well known, NATO has invited him several times to remain calm, in view of the great support with which all the countries belonging to the Atlantic alliance have contributed. Ukraine’s entry into NATO could finally free Ukraine and the Prime Minister from worries, but if Russia were to continue the invasion it will be open war with extensive international involvement: it is difficult for this to happen in reality, considering that part of the Russian war industry is based on military aid now provided by countries such as Iran and North Korea, states that are certainly not defenseless, but which would not be able to prevail in a world conflict (this is also demonstrated by the Iranian theocratic offensive foiled by Israel in recent times).

In addition to the words of comfort and the certainty of the plans, greater application will still be needed by NATO, which now has all eyes on you as never before, as “Ambassador” of Atlanticist policies: it would in fact be counterproductive for a man like Stoltenberg lied about the commitment made, even considering the importance of a person of his caliber in an international scenario devastated not only by war, but also by commercial and economic crises such as that of the Red Sea.

A prediction of the future would now be more risky than ever, also considering the uncertainty and the delicate situation at a geopolitical level, but we are almost certain of one thing: once again the West will have to demonstrate its strength and tenacity, a arduous test from which however the latter decided not to escape when the majority of world public opinion gave him up. The rest of the current ongoing conflicts could also depend on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, so it will be important not to leave anything to chance.
