04/29/2024 – “I wonder what credibility the commitments that ministers Tajani and Urso are making with the Marche Region may have with respect to the protection of the Ariston plants privatized by the Russian government. Probably none, given that we are talking about a ruling class, has never worked in international forums to favor a diplomatic solution to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.”

This was said by the regional group leader of the Democratic Party Maurizio Mangialardi, who also announced a question to the president of the Marche Region Francesco Acquaroli to ask what initiatives he intends to take towards the national government in order to protect the Ariston factories and those of other companies in the Marche region operating in Russia.

“It is evident, in fact, as denounced by the unions, that what has happened in recent days is a direct consequence of this devastating conflict. If we talk about an unexpected measure, as supported by the Foreign Minister, it means that Italy is governed by a manager unprepared or in bad faith, given that among other things the nationalization of Ariston certainly does not represent the first case to have occurred in Russia since the outbreak of the war. Or it means that Meloni, an alternating current sovereignist, is willing to trade the fate of many Italian companies in order to obtain their political legitimacy at an international level. In any case the result does not change: it is always the companies and the workers who pay for the war”.

“From the beginning of the Russian aggression – explains Mangialardi – I have worked with interventions and motions in the regional council to commit President Acquaroli and his council to take action towards the Draghi and Meloni governments, so that Italy becomes a protagonist in Europe of concrete action aimed at stopping the war immediately. In addition to the priority humanitarian issue, which unfortunately took a backseat to the discussion on the sending of weapons, among the emergencies I indicated the need to protect our economy and our companies which have had deep ties with the Russian Federation for decades. Unfortunately, as often happens with this centre-right, we witnessed a listless and superficial debate, empty of ideas and full of slogans, with the result that nothing was done either to ask for an immediate ceasefire or to secure our businesses. Who knows if now the president and his majority have finally understood that our request to discuss the consequences of the war in Ukraine had nothing specious but was closely intertwined with the future of the regional economy? I hope that in the next few hours Acquaroli or someone on his behalf will take action towards the national government to respond to the anguish of our territory”.
