Despite attempts to paint 2019 as the year of a budget disaster, the reality is that spending capacity has progressively reduced over the years. The policies adopted have not only demonstrated the inability to improve the situation, but also the chronic instability caused by continuous changes of government every six months.
Inexperience and approximation, tolerable in the first years, are not justified at the end of the mandate. A tangible example is the call for summer initiatives, devoid of meaning and participation, a clear manifestation of a management incapable of translating proclamations and press conferences into concrete actions.
This is just one of the symptoms of a broader disease: the potronism that afflicts the local center-right. Changing the mayoral candidate is not enough to guarantee significant change when the same people, responsible for the historical records of administrative instability, remain in key positions. Proposing a change of “baker” will not erase past failures or guarantee a better future for our city.
