MODENA VOLLEY – OFFICIAL: THE RETURN OF PAUL BUCHEGGER

Now it’s official: Paul Buchegger is a new Modena Volley player.
The Gialloblu club made this known this afternoon with a statement released to the media.
Austrian, 28 years old, 204 centimeters tall, Buchegger will be part of the opposing team available to coach Alberto Giuliani.
This is an excellent signing: in the 2023-24 Super League he was the player with the highest number of winning attacks.
For Buchegger, this year playing for Catania (a team that finished last and was relegated), it is a welcome return: he had also played in Modena in the 2020-21 season, in which he returned to high levels after a long injury.
In the last three seasons, Buchegger played first in Turkey (Spor Toto Spor Kulübü), then again in Italy, in Vibo Valentia and Catania.
In previous years, before Modena, he had also played in Italy in Monza, Ravenna and Ortona.
He is now Italian to all intents and purposes, at least in volleyball.

With the end of the season yesterday – and the championship in Perugia, led by Angelo Lorenzetti – the officialization of Paul Buchegger could only be the first of Modena Volley’s transfer operations.
In the next few days it could be the turn of other players in the sights of sporting director Casadei: we are talking about the Argentine setter Luciano De Cecco (from Civitanova) and the Cuban spiker Miguel Gutierrez (from Taranto).

Some operations are already done: the Argentine setter Luciano De Cecco (36 years old), coming from Civitanova, the Austrian opposite Paul Buchegger (28 years old, this year in Catania), the Cuban spiker Miguel Gutierrez (27 years old, from Taranto) and the central expert from Civitanova, Simone Anzani (32 years old).
Now radio transfer rumors are arriving which also concern “side” players for next season’s squad: one is the very young centre-back Pardo Mati, 18 years old in August, now in A2 at Santa Croce, other names are those of two French setters, Kelian Motta Paes (who plays in Poland) and Alexandre Gabin, currently at Tours, both 22 years old.
But the big name that Modena Volley is working on is the return, after just a year, of Adis Lagumdzija, Civitanova’s very strong Turkish-Bosnian opposite.
