“An urgent majority check”: this is the request that the city councilors of the majority Centro per Cuneo group have officially put forward as an explanation for the abandonment of the first session of the City Council this April.
What triggered the reaction – according to the councilors themselves – “today’s discussion of the coalition groups on the topic of the CRC Foundation”. “To avoid further misunderstandings, we await the convening of the majority coordination and we abandon the work of this City Council”.
The political crisis opens
Following the group’s position, chaos literally broke out in the Council, with the actual interruption of work during the intervention of councilor Alessandro Spedale on the question on Villa Invernizzi presented by Ugo Sturlese (Cuneo for Common Goods).
The majority of the minority consequently rebelled: “Crazy stuff“, commented Giancarlo Boselli. Strong words, particularly, among Franco Civallero And Claudia Carli: “If the conditions exist to continue, the session is valid. The assessments of merit of the individual members of the Council are absolutely valid”.
Boselli, Beppe Lauria, Claudio Bongiovanni And Ugo Sturlese they comment on the incident forcefully asking for the interruption of the City Council: “There is the virtual opening of a crisis, a very serious act carried out at a serious moment for the city and in truly shameful and contemptuous terms towards all the councillors. Never has anything like this been seen in the political field. Madam mayor, take an initiative”.
The Prime Minister Marco Vernetti consequently suspended the work of the Council. Upon his return, the president proceeded to count those present, the results being fifteen: given that the minimum quorum to continue with the administrative activity is seventeen people, the session was declared deserted, suspended and adjourned until tomorrow.
“Under these conditions, we will not participate in the continuation of the work – Sturlese added in conclusion – : let it be clear that, here, we are faced with a real political crisis“.
