Novara – Thanks to the twenty-year agreement signed in 2014 between Municipality of Novara And Novara cremation society ets apsthe association is authorized to carry out cultural activities within the Municipal Cemeteries: concerts, theatrical readings, editorial projects, guided tours.
In the first ten years we promoted concerts, created the volume Il Foppone di Novara and, above all, organized guided tours inside the Monumental Cemetery, events crowned by a high presence of audiences from Piedmont, Liguria and Lombardy.
To give continuity to this experience, creating a calendar with more appointments throughout the year and in the years to come, we have signed a collaboration with the “Felice Casorati” Artistic, Musical and Dance High School of Novara.
The cultural project involves students accompanying visitors by the hand as they discover funerary art and search for the characters who made Novara great.
Involving students in a journey of knowledge to be shared with all people who seek the meaning of beauty creates a cultural circle capable of enriching all parties involved.
The fact that 34 high school students have joined the project demonstrates passion and curiosity as well as the ability to involve the two tutors, Professor Carlo Cerutti and Professor Gisella Bigi.
Two visits are planned, free of charge, which will take place throughout the day. The first took place on 7 April and had an influx of around 130 visitors throughout the day, mostly from outside the city. The second will take place on Sunday 5 May continuously from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
The reception point will be under the portico at the entrance to the Urban Cemetery in Viale Curtatone 9. Once the number of participants for the formation of the groups has been reached, the visit will begin and will last approximately an hour.
These first two events will take place under the patronage of FAI delegation from Novara: prestigious support that underlines the importance of the initiative.
After the summer break, again in agreement with Liceo Casorati, we will propose the autumn calendar. We hope that citizens will respond in large numbers to discover the Open Air Museum together!
