“We are moving forward with the political negotiation part. There has been a technical path carried out by the various negotiators of our countries therefore there is a defined technical path and the stamp of the political agreement between the countries is necessary”. This was said by the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, who opened the first of the two days of the G7 summit dedicated to Climate, Energy and Environment in Venaria Reale.
The stop to Coal in the technical sector between 2030 and 2035 in the G7 countries is “a hypothesis that has been foreseen, there is a technical agreement on the matter, we are working on the political aspect. If the political agreement is concluded tomorrow, I will be able to say so too”. Thus the Minister of the Environment Gilberto Pichetto on the sidelines of the G7 underway in Venaria. ”As a presidency I will speak with honesty when I have the document in hand” .
“We have discussed it, we are working on it, of course all this is in the hope and with a view to arriving at a proposal within Cop29. The first step will be to redefine the scope of evaluations pbecause at the moment it is very voluntary and the scope of the borders does not exist and the contribution systems must be redefined because many countries contribute and intervene on the objective but are not classified with respect to these actions”, continues Pichetto Fratin after the first day of work of the G7 Climate, Energy and Environment in Venaria.
