Emergency intervention, in the early afternoon of Sunday, by the regional 118 and the ‘Santa Maria’ hospital in Terni where a child of just 18 months, of Italian nationality and resident with his family in the province of Viterbo, arrived to the emergency room of the Terni hospital with extensive burns to the body, from the neck to the chest. According to what we learned, the injuries were the consequence of a completely random domestic accident, with the child spilling boiling water on himself. The alarm was raised immediately and he was then transported to ‘Santa Maria’ where the emergency room doctors took care of and stabilized the little patient, who was assisted for initial treatment together with the staff of the pediatric department. Within a short time, due to both the severity and extent of the burns, but also the age of the child, the transfer by air ambulance to the ‘Gemelli’ polyclinic in Rome was decided and implemented. The ambulance, escorted by two Terni state police cars, reached the ‘Leonardi’ airfield and from there the child was airlifted to the hospital in the capital. Subsequently, we learn, he was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit. However, his life is not in danger and the hope is that his condition will soon improve.
