“Example of passion and commitment”. Ceremony in Palermo in the presence of family, friends and colleagues
PALRMO – From today, the meeting room of the Sicilian Democratic Party headquarters bears the name of Angela Bottari, an unforgettable Sicilian woman from Messina, former parliamentarian and regional secretary, who passed away last November. The naming ceremony, decided on the proposal of the regional secretary Anthony Barbagallo, took place this afternoon in Palermo in the presence of Angela Bottari’s husband, Gioacchino Silvestro, her children and grandchildren, the former parliamentarian Filippo Panarello, the president of the regional commission Antimafia, Antonello Cracolici, and the head of the PNRR department Cleo Li Calzi, whom Angela Bottari had followed with great attention and support.
“I remember Angela’s fundamental contribution and tireless activism,” declared Barbagallo, “especially in her tireless fight for women’s rights. At the forefront of the Sicilian PD, she fought tenaciously for the approval of the law on double gender preference also in Sicily, the only region still without this important instrument. Angela was and will always be an example for all of us. Every time we cross the threshold of this room, we will feel an even stronger responsibility to carry on our battles in support of women, of the weakest and most discriminated against, with the same passion and dedication that Angela has passed on to us.”
