The online edition of the “Città della Spezia” newspaper interviewed Marco Frione, for years the historic leader of the Curva Ferrovia, who lined up alongside the team for these latest battles.
Here are his words:
«The team is there, the fighting spirit of the ultras will try to help throw the ball in. We are very close to the team, we will give our best to push them to get the points they are missing, both at home with Palermo and Venezia, and in Cosenza. We hope to close the practice as soon as possible, unfortunately the team is unable to bring home the three points because it makes colossal mistakes in front of goal. It would take that extra nastiness to throw the ball in, even when you could get a victory you don’t deserve. On Saturday against Brescia we played well in the first half, less so in the second, but then we had the opportunity in the ninetieth minute which was thrown away. With Sampdoria they stole three crucial points from us, but we are confident because the team is playing.”
Compared to last year, in any case, it is a different Spezia, just as the sensations are also different: «It is a completely different situation. Last year there was the match at Marassi against Sampdoria where we didn’t win and the one against Monza which demoralized everyone because the team lacked determination. This team, however, doesn’t hold back, the will and pride are there, the problem is throwing the ball in. Di Serio made his first mistake since he was in Spezia, he is a young boy who has just returned and he cannot be asked to solve all the matches. That goal would have taken the chestnuts out of the fire, but he is young, as is Kouda. The team is there, personally I’m very confident.”
A lack of goals that we hope can be filled by Picco, historically an extra man for Spezia and over the years capable of dragging the team to the net even in moments of maximum difficulty: «It will probably take Picco to throw it in. The fighting spirit of the ultras and the boys from the Curva will be in the stands on Wednesday and the incitement will be there until the ninetieth minute, hoping for an important result that could be decisive, given that Cosenza could then be calm on Sunday. With three points against Palermo we could breathe a sigh of relief”
