MODICA – Unscheduled with no injuries fortunately as a corollary to the conclusion of a well-attended celebration of San Giorgio in Modica: the final fireworks caused half a dozen fires along the Idria hill, one of which was more extensive, whose flames have enveloped some trees, as seen in the video below, exclusive to Corriere di Ragusa.
The timely intervention of 3 operational teams of civil protection volunteers from the municipalities of Ragusa and Modica qualified for firefighting and coordinated by Alessandro Cicciarella prevented the spread of the flames, which were put out without too much difficulty, despite the strong wind, after the alarm raised by the bearers of San Giorgio. As mentioned, the flames were caused by pieces of firecrackers that fell after the final fireworks of the party, late in the evening. Luckily no one was injured and the flames were immediately put out by civil protection volunteers, who, with their immediate intervention, averted major risks. Finally, the firefighters also intervened to prevent the formation of any outbreaks fueled by the wind.
